ROTUMANS HONOUR KONROTE, FIRST LADY
President thanked the community and highlighted the 2013 Constitution and its relevance in creating equal opportunities for every Fijian.
The Rotuman community living in the United Kingdom and parts of Europe hosted President Major-General (ret’d) Jioji Konrote and the First Lady, to a reception in London yesterday. The reception was an opportunity for Rotumans living in Europe to personally congratulate President Konrote since he took up the post. It was also an opportunity for them to show support for President Konrote in his QHZ UROH DQG WR UHDIåUP WKHLU FRPPLWment to support Fiji’s socio-economic development.
President Konrote expressed his appreciation to the Rotuman community DQG EULHae\ GLVFXVVHG ZLWK WKHP WKH developments taking place back home. He highlighted the 2013 Constitution and its relevance in creating equal opportunities for every Fijian. He pointed to the Constitution as a working document that will create one identity for all Fijians – regardless of race, gender or age.
He also spoke on the rehabilitation efforts carried out back home since Tropical Cyclone Winston and thanked the community for their support in this process. President Konrote reached out to them to work closely with the Government to continue this rehabilitation effort for those directly affected by Cyclone Winston. The reception was held at the Fijian High Commission in London.
