Qiliho: Can’t Comment, Haven’t Seen Video
Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho yesterday said he could not comment on a CCTV footage of an alleged burglary posted on social media because he had not seen it. Businessman Imdad Ali claimed he had to turn to social media to gain help from the public concerning the thefts after he had reported the alleged burglary to Police. The 62-year-old businessman posted the CCTV footage on his
Facebook page showing people who he claimed were involved in a robbery at his home on July 27. He is requesting the public and Police to identify the people on the footage. “Three times some people trespassed into my property and stole some items from my property,” Mr Ali said.
“After July 27, I reported the matter at the Nabua Police Station but no one has been arrested yet. “After the second and third similar incidences, I did not report the matter to the Police.”
Mr Ali said after first incident when Police allegedly failed to take any action, he lost hope and thought of not reporting the matter at all. “The three incidents happened between July and September.
“In the first incident there were about three people involved in the theft. Some taxi drivers told me the residence of one of the robbers. “$1500 worth of items has been stolen from my residence,” he said. “I am really concerned about the safety of my family members because they can hurt my family members. During the third incident, I was overseas. “During the third theft, my granddaughter saw someone jumping over the gate and even our neighbours have witnessed it. “When my neighbours tried to catch the robber, he started to throw stones at them and ran away.” “There are about seven to eight CCVT cameras installed outside my house.
“I want Police to look into this matter seriously,” he said.
