Soos Wins Top Female Angler

United States angler Gabi Soos took out the top female prize during the Pinktober fishing competition in Nadi last Sunday. The annual event was organised by the Denarau Game and Sport Fishing Club in October where funds raised is directed to the Cancer Society Fiji. “Soos has been the top female angler twice in the three years she has competed in,” said DGSFC secretary Jared Wood. “She only comes into the country to be part of Pinktober event and she has been successful in two years.” Wood said they raised $1300 for the Cancer Society Fiji (West Chapter) with the help of Warren Wikki putting his body on the line for a full body wax raising $700 alone.
“With a perfect weather forecast, teams headed out dressed in their Pinktober outfits and with the Pink Bubbles flowing, it was cracker of a day.
“Thanks all to the participants and the committee members that assisted to make the day go ahead.” IceT took out the top team award scoring 70.8 points, largest Mahimahi was caught by Dvinshna Pillay on board IceT. Best dressed team prize was won by WorldCat while top junior angler went to Patrick Spillane.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Classic, Denarau Game and Sport Fishing Clubs premier event, will be held on November 11 to 13.
