Soos has been the top fe­male an­gler twice in the three years she has com­peted in. She only comes into the coun­try to be part of Pink­to­ber event and she has been suc­cess­ful in two years. Jared Wood De­na­rau Game and Sport Fish­ing Club sec­re­tary

United States an­gler Gabi Soos took out the top fe­male prize dur­ing the Pink­to­ber fish­ing com­pe­ti­tion in Nadi last Sun­day. The an­nual event was or­gan­ised by the De­na­rau Game and Sport Fish­ing Club in Oc­to­ber where funds raised is di­rected to the Can­cer So­ci­ety Fiji. “Soos has been the top fe­male an­gler twice in the three years she has com­peted in,” said DGSFC sec­re­tary Jared Wood. “She only comes into the coun­try to be part of Pink­to­ber event and she has been suc­cess­ful in two years.” Wood said they raised $1300 for the Can­cer So­ci­ety Fiji (West Chap­ter) with the help of War­ren Wikki putting his body on the line for a full body wax rais­ing $700 alone.

“With a per­fect weather fore­cast, teams headed out dressed in their Pink­to­ber out­fits and with the Pink Bub­bles flow­ing, it was cracker of a day.

“Thanks all to the par­tic­i­pants and the com­mit­tee mem­bers that as­sisted to make the day go ahead.” IceT took out the top team award scor­ing 70.8 points, largest Mahimahi was caught by Dvin­shna Pil­lay on board IceT. Best dressed team prize was won by WorldCat while top ju­nior an­gler went to Pa­trick Spil­lane.

Wood thanked ma­jor spon­sors McDon­alds (Fiji), Flavours of Fiji, DevCorp, Port De­na­rau Ma­rina, Higgins, MM Con­struc­tion, Blue Gas and Namotu Is­land Re­sort.

Not for­get­ting mi­nor spon­sors Car­dos Bar & Grill, Mango Bay Re­sort, Wyn­d­ham Re­sort, Sea Fiji, Spa Mayo, Is­land Surf Spa, Vic­to­ria Wines and Essence of Fiji.

Mean­while, the Fiji Clas­sic, De­na­rau Game and Sport Fish­ing Clubs pre­mier event, will be held on Novem­ber 11 to 13.
