Lesi Navuwai will lead the charge for the Bea­c­house Club at the Stand Up Pad­dle Fiji tri­als at Wailoaloa in Nadi this week­end. The Vu­na­niu, Serua na­tive fin­ished second be­hind Bruce Climo dur­ing the Mus­ket Cove Fiji Re­gatta Namotu Is­land to Cloud­break race last month. The top pad­dlers will rep­re­sent Fiji at the 2016 Fiji ISA Stand-Up Pad­dle (SUP) and Pad­dle­board World Cham­pi­onship which will take place at Cloud­break on Novem­ber 12-20. Other top con­tenders are Eroni Fotofili, Nick Swiss, Jimmy Tuitavuki, Paul Chong, Sanaila Kaikai and Api­sai Ka­maro. “The boys have been un­der­go­ing coach­ing, few time tri­als, with body con­di­tion­ing, strength­en­ing and surf­ing,” said Climo.

“All the boys have be­ing pretty close dur­ing the time tri­als and a good com­pe­ti­tion is ex­pected this week­end.” He said there is not so SUP clubs in Fiji with mostly a few in­di­vid­u­als scat­tered around that unite for con­tests.

The Fiji team tri­als are sched­uled on Satur­day, 4pm at Wailoaloa for the five kilo­me­tres race and 18 km race on Sun­day morn­ing at 8am.
