CLEAN DRINK­ING WA­TER FOR RARA VIL­LAGE, CIRISOBU SET­TLE­MENT

More than 179 peo­ple in the hin­ter­lands of Ba Prov­ince will have ac­cess to clean and treated drink­ing wa­ter. Two Wa­ter for Life projects funded by the Fiji Wa­ter Foun­da­tion will be com­mis­sioned at Rara Vil­lage and Cirisobu set­tle­ment in Ba on Thurs­day. Ro­tary Pa­cific Wa­ter for Life Foun­da­tion AVID com­mu­ni­ca­tions of­fi­cer Julie Mor­ris said: “The wa­ter project sites are lo­cated in Rara Vil­lage and Cirisobu set­tle­ment.” The vil­lage will re­ceive Biosand wa­ter fil­tra­tion sys­tems which strain pathogens and sus­pend solids.

A 5000 litre stor­age tank and two sets of Biosand fil­tra­tion sys­tems was built to cater for the drink­ing needs of Rara Vil­lage. With new wa­ter sup­ply, the ex­ist­ing flush toi­lets have be­come op­er­a­tional. Ms Mor­ris added the projects will be of­fi­ci­ated by Fiji Wa­ter chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer Rokoseru Na­balarua.
