The President of Ethiopia Mulatu Teshome, reaffirmed his nation’s support to Fiji at both the bilateral and multilateral level. This followed a meeting with President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote, at the Presidential Palace in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia yesterday. During the meeting, President Teshome welcomed President Konrote to Ethiopia and extended the greetings of the Government and the Ethiopian people. The two heads of state discussed the impact of climate change on Small Islands Developing States and the adverse effects of El Niño in Ethiopia.

Both leaders agreed that a collective voice on the international stage was crucial to address the growing threat posed by climate change. President Konrote thanked his Ethiopian counterpart for welcoming him to Ethiopia and for the assistance and courtesies extended to him since he arrived in Addis Ababa. He also thanked the Government and people of Ethiopia for the establishment of Fiji’s new chancery in Addis Ababa.

President Konrote is visiting Fijian peacekeepers in his capacity as Commander in Chief of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF).

Enroute he is visiting different Fijian diplomatic missions before he returns. Source: DEPTFO News
