My Cham­pi­ons, My Staff: Voda­fone CEO


Pradeep Lal, the chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of Voda­fone Fiji Lim­ited, ap­plauded his staff for their ef­forts as he re­ceived the Pres­i­dent’s award dur­ing the Fiji Busi­ness Ex­cel­lence Awards. He said: “Voda­fone Fiji has made it for the fifth time pick­ing up this award. This would not have been pos­si­ble with­out my cham­pi­ons- my staffs.” He said qual­ity and in­no­va­tion at Voda­fone was not a sep­a­rate func­tion but was em­bed­ded into each staff ’s day to day work. “We have 260 staffs 96 % Univer­sity grad­u­ates, 63% hold Masters or an equiv­a­lent level of qual­i­fi­ca­tion and we are 100 per cent lo­cally owned and hold around 85 per cent mar­ket share af­ter nine years of com­pe­ti­tion,” Mr Lal stated. “The qual­ity at Voda­fone be­gan from the be­gin­ning. “We have spent large amount of time, look­ing at pro­ce­dures, pro­cesses as to how we can bring im­prove­ment and bet­ter serve our cus­tomers on a daily ba­sis. “And not only had that but a global rat­ing agency rated Voda­fone one of the best in the Asia Pacific Re­gion.” The Pres­i­dent’s Award for the Fiji Busi­ness Ex­cel­lence Awards is awarded to an or­gan­i­sa­tion which has demon­stra­bly been a world class or­gan­i­sa­tion and Voda­fone Fiji Lim­ited has won an award for the fifth time this year. He said Voda­fone Fiji was ma­jor­ity owned by the peo­ple of Fiji through the Fiji Na­tional Prov­i­dent Fund.

He also thanked the Fiji Na­tional Univer­sity, Na­tional Train­ing and Pro­duc­tiv­ity Cen­tre for the ef­forts put in or­ga­niz­ing the awards. Voda­fone Fiji won the Fiji Busi­ness Ex­cel­lence Pres­i­dent’s Awards in 2004, 2007, 2013 and also re­ceived the Achieve­ment in Fiji Busi­ness Ex­cel­lence Awards in 2000.
