Justice Priyantha Fernando refused bail for Saula Vunivesi because he has 41 previous convictions, of which nine are within 10 years.

Vunivesi is charged for aggravated robbery.

It is alleged that on September 7, the accused grabbed and assaulted a person outside the Happy Garden Restaurant in Nabua, stealing $100 cash and a mobile phone. Justice Fernando wants the matter to be tried in the High Court because Vunivesi is a habitual offender.

Vunivesi pleaded not guilty to the charge. The court has been adjourned to November 30 for pre-trial conference. Edited by Jonathan Bryce
