JOSAIA RALAGO $50K Boost For Bua Students LABASA
Money to cater for things not covered by sponsors
Tertiary students from the province of Bua will be sharing $50,000 set aside by the Bua Provincial Council for academic assistance next year, Roko Tui Bua Peni Kunaturaga said this was to supplement the income they were getting from their sponsors. Mr Kunaturaga said this initiative was a much needed one to help the students in tertiary education who were already sponsored by the Tertiary Scholarship and Loans Board.
“This is not for their fees but their allowance to help them cater for other things, which is not covered by their sponsors,” Mr Kunaturaga said.
He said this was not restricted to students from certain districts or stature but for everyone in the province. The move is part of the Bua Provincial Council’s plan to move the province forward. Mr Kunaturaga praised the people of Bua for coming in numbers, particularly the women who managed to raise close to $43,000 last week during the craft show. The Adi Bua and Bua showcase has been running for the past three years.
