FOR PACIFIC FETE
Suva’s Vodafone Hibiscus Festival queen Anne Dunn said she was ready for the next level after being crowned the Miss Telecom Fiji Queen last night.
“This is such a privilege to be standing here tonight and also to have an opportunity to represent this entire nation to the Pacific Island Pageant 2016,” she said. “Though I have a short time to prepare but I pray to do Fiji proud.” The win automatically opens the door for Ms Dunn to represent Fiji to the Miss Pacific Island Pageant which is scheduled next month in Samoa. Ms Dunn couldn’t express her feelings as the crown was handed over by the former Miss Fiji Pageant 2015 Zaira Begg. She said as the second winner of the pageant, the next stage of competition would be eye opening for her. “I thank God because a lot of things have happened in the process to get to this day,” she said. The 24-year-old acknowledged her supporters who were present during the crowning night. “I thank my family who are here tonight especially to my lewa (grandmother) from my maternal side.” Elder brother Amos Dunn who was there to witness her success was proud of her achievement. “Mom who is leaving in the States (US) will probably be happy with her achievement and as well dad and all the families. We never thought that she would reach that stage but she did and we are thankful and happy for her,” he said.
“She is the first ever in our family to participate in this kind of platform. The whole family is supporting her tonight (last night).”
