Author­ity to up­grade tick­ets for of­fend­ers

The Land Trans­port Author­ity is cur­rently putting in place the is­suance of elec­tronic tick­ets for traf­fic of­fend­ers caught by their ve­hi­cles on duty. LTA board chair­man Vi­jay Ma­haraj said the in­stal­la­tion of tough pad and rugged prin­ters in their ve­hi­cles was for in­stant is­suance of no­tices to of­fend­ers. He said LTA was plan­ning to buy seven new fully equipped ve­hi­cles. “Each vehicle will be equipped with touch­pads with por­ta­ble prin­ters, heat guns for test­ing brakes, por­ta­ble scales, laser speed guns and sur­veil­lance cam­eras.

He said over 6000 Traf­fic In­fringe­ment No­tices (TIN) were is­sued from Au­gust through Oc­to­ber while 2000 de­fect or­ders were is­sued over the same pe­riod. Mr Ma­haraj con­firmed that cus­tomers of LTA could now reg­is­ter on­line to ac­cess the author­ity’s new range of web-based ser­vices that were fo­cused on regis­tra­tion and li­cens­ing.
