All Blacks 3 out of France clash
Paris: Ben Smith, Sam Cane and Patrick Tuipulotu have been ruled out of the All Blacks’ final match of their northern tour in Paris, France next Sunday. Fullback Smith and flanker Cane were injured in the All Blacks’ 21-9 win over Ireland on Sunday morning. Smith suffered a compound fracture of a finger, leaving the field late in the game. Cane sprained his ankle in the first half, also having to be replaced. All Blacks coach Steve Hansen said Tuipulotu has had to return to New Zealand because of “personal reasons” and would not elaborate on what that involved. Smith would not travel home immediately because there is a risk of infection. He will stay with the squad until they complete the tour. No replacements will be brought into the squad. Smith can be replaced by Israel Dagg, if he is asked to shift off the right wing. Ardie Savea or Matt Todd are options to start in Cane’s position. Hansen, speaking before the squad flew to Paris, said he had reviewed the tape of the match in Dublin and would speak to centre Malakai Fekitoa about his tackling technique after he floored Simon Zebo with a high shot and was yellow carded.- Rugby Heaven
