London: Mischievous England rugby coach Eddie Jones is at it again, this time taking a thinly veiled crack at All Blacks first five and newly minted world player of the year Beauden Barrett. Barrett has had a fabulous year assuming the No 10 All Black jersey vacated by Dan Carter’s move to play in France, and was recently anointed the premier player on the planet for 2016 at World Rugby’s annual awards. But Jones made it clear, in the wake of England’s 58-15 victory over Fiji to extend their winning streak under their Aussie coach to 11, that Barrett would not have had his vote. Jones never wastes a chance to chip away at the All Blacks edifice, and took another swing when talking up the abilities and potential of his own No 10, George Ford, after the one-sided victory over Fiji.

“He’s got a beautiful skill set. I think George can be better than Beauden Barrett,” Jones told UK media in a storyline they jumped all over en masse. “People rave about Beauden Barrett but I don’t. I’ll leave it at that. I don’t pick the player of the year,” he added, with his trademark grin.-Rugby Heaven
