The bail application of former Post Fiji employee, Artika Anjani, has been adjourned to December 15.

Anjani, who allegedly set fire to the Seaqaqa Post Office in Macuata, appeared before judge, Justice Achala Wengappuli in the High Court in Labasa. She appeared without the presence of her lawyer, Ami Koli.

Representing the state was the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions lawyer, Amelia Vavadakua. In making her presentation, Ms Vavadakua said the State sought time to file information and disclosures - for the substantive matter alleged arson file. Anjani is charged with one count each of arson, money laundering and theft.

It is alleged that the former Post Fiji employee had stolen more than $40,000 and was sending the money overseas, not realising that she was getting caught in an online scam. When she failed to get her money back, she allegedly set fire to the Post Office to cover her tracks. JOSAIA RALAGO Edited by Caroline Ratucadra
