I can’t believe it, says Lodoni Primary Dux
Surprised! That’s how Adi Perina Saurara felt when she was named Dux of Lodoni Primary School yesterday.
“I couldn’t believe I got the Award, but I know I have been working really hard for it,” the 13-year-old student from Dakuinuku Village in Tailevu said. “I thank the Lord and my teachers for their tremendous support throughout the year.” Her mother, Lanieta Kaberekia, 45, said: “I can’t really explain how happy I am right now. I thank the Lord for my daughter’s life and she really deserves this award.” Mrs Kaberekia said they were badly affected by Cyclone Winston and were still trying to recover, yet that did not stop her daughter from getting the Dux award. “She has been working really hard “We really did our best in supporting our daughter and staying in the village with no work wasn’t easy, but we did some farming, which has been catering for our family. Mrs Kaberekia also pointed out that her daughter was the first dux award recipient from Dakuinuku Village. Adi Perina, who aspires to become a doctor, will be joining St Vincent College in Tailevu.
