Delhi will in­ves­ti­gate the de­rail­ment of the In­dore -Patna ex­press: PM Modi

New Delhi: In­dian Prime Min­is­ter Naren­dra Modi said the In­dian govern­ment would in­ves­ti­gate the de­rail­ment of the In­dore-Patna ex­press, in which more than a 100 peo­ple were killed, and hun­dreds of oth­ers in­jured. He added that res­cue op­er­a­tions were un­der­way. “Many peo­ple lost their lives, (or) got in­jured in (the) train de­rail­ment near Kan­pur on Sun­day. Re­lief work is go­ing on in full swing. Cen­tre will also in­ves­ti­gate the mat­ter,” the PM said at a pu­bic gath­er­ing in Agra. “My thoughts are with the be­reaved fam­i­lies. I wish those in­jured a speedy re­cov­ery,” he added. PM Modi had ear­lier tweeted that he was “an­guished be­yond words” by the in­ci­dent, and that he’d spo­ken to Rail­ways min­is­ter Suresh Prabhu, who he said was “per­son­ally mon­i­tor­ing the sit­u­a­tion closely.” Times of In­dia
