Dakuina­mako sur­prised by pass­ing-out win

I am ded­i­cat­ing this award to my sick mother, says Cadet

Twenty-three-year-old Josefa Dakuina­mako walked away with the Best Over­all and Best Wet Trade award dur­ing the Repub­lic of Fiji Mil­i­tary Forces En­gi­neers Cadet pass­ing-out pa­rade in Nabua yes­ter­day. The RFMF sap­per hails from Galoa, Lekutu, Bua and was nom­i­nated based on his good con­duct, per­sonal at­ti­tude and per­for­mance on and off duty. Mr Dakuina­mako said he was sur­prised, but proud of his achieve­ments.

“I feel hon­oured for get­ting this award amongst all my other brothers who have also worked hard,” he said. “I wish them well for their fu­ture and I know we all will do great things to­gether with unity and team work.” He ded­i­cated the awards to his mother. “My mother has been sick and the doc­tors have not yet con­firmed what ac­tu­ally hap­pened to her, but I am ded­i­cat­ing this award to her for her be­lief and trust in me,” he said. His fi­ancé Va­sitia Vu­ni­wai said she was proud of her hus­band-to-be. “I am so happy and proud of Josefa to­day, be­cause he has proven to all of us that he is ca­pa­ble of do­ing great things in life. “I am cer­tainly look­ing for­ward for our great fu­ture to­gether,” she said.
