New FSC CEO will be an­nounced soon: Karan

The Fiji Sugar Cor­po­ra­tion (FSC) could know within weeks who its new chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer (CEO) will be. This was con­firmed by the Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary for Sugar Yo­gesh Karan. The new CEO will re­place Ab­dul Khan who is presently be­ing in­ves­ti­gated fol­low­ing a com­plaint claim­ing al­leged abuse of of­fice. Mr Karan said the in­ter­views for those short­listed for the po­si­tion would be­gin soon. Al­though Mr Karan could not dis­close as to how many can­di­dates were short­listed for the post, he said those who have been in­cluded some from out­side Fiji. “We have a good list­ing of those to be in­ter­viewed and I can say we have some very good can­di­dates and that is both lo­cal and over­seas,” Mr Karan said. Mean­while Mr Karan said the in­ves­ti­ga­tions in re­la­tion to Mr Khan were al­le­ga­tions and would re­main un­til the out­come. He could not di­vulge as to who was con­duct­ing the in­ves­ti­ga­tions.

“I can­not dis­close who is con­duct­ing it, but we have given the mat­ter for in­ves­ti­gat­ing and I do not know when the in­ves­ti­ga­tions will start, or whether it has started or not.” Mr Khan could not be reached for com­ments de­spite sev­eral at­tempts.
