The census is the largest data gathering exercise carried out in Fiji. It is a count of every person in the country at a particular point in time.
What is the importance of the census?
The census will give a comprehensive picture of the social living conditions of Fijians in 2017. It will provide detailed population figures at the local level.
2017 census objectives:
To establish how many people are living in the country on census night To establish the main demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of this population on census night To establish the distribution of the population and to establish what kind of dwellings people live in Some basic information concerning functioning challenges Some basic information concerning internet access, communications and financial inclusion Basic information concerning agriculture and fishing activities Basic information concerning remittance, fertility and mortality
