Judge seeks medical examination report of alleged rapist
Judge Justice Riyaaz Hamza has sought the medical examination of a 73-year-old man charged with four counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault.
Mr Hamza has ordered both defence and state counsels to ascertain the accused's physical condition as to why he cannot stand in the dock.
State counsel Lavenia Bogitini informed the court that a medical examination has been conducted on the accused however they have not received the report in regards to his physical condition.
The alleged incidents occurred between January 1, 1982 and November 21, 2016 in Rakiraki and Suva.
It is alleged that the accused had raped his daughter when she was 15-years-old and had impregnated her.
It is further alleged that he had raped his daughter's daughter as well.
The case has been adjourned to October 11, for mention.
