Suva bridges com­plete by 2018

Fiji Roads Au­thor­ity (FRA) chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer (CEO) Jonathan Moore has con­firmed that the Vatuwaqa and Stinson Pa­rade bridges in Suva will be com­pleted in four months.

Mr Moore has re­cently met with the bridge con­trac­tors, China Rail­way 14 Group and was pleased with the progress on both bridges.

“The con­crete bridge su­per­struc­ture and sub-struc­ture at the Vatuwaqa Bridge are com­plete,” Mr Moore said. “Cur­rently the con­trac­tor is work­ing on the con­struc­tion of bridge fur­ni­ture,” he said.

“An ad­vi­sory no­tice will be is­sued next week be­cause the work to com­plete road ap­proaches will take at least two days, and it is sub­ject to cle­ment weather.”

The Stinson Pa­rade Bridge he said its bridge sub-struc­ture was com­plete.

“The con­trac­tor is cur­rently con­struct­ing the deck su­per­struc­ture,” he said.

“Ground sta­bil­i­sa­tion works are com­pleted at both ap­proaches.”

He said road ap­proach works would com­mence next week. Mr Moore said the ex­pected com­ple­tion date for both the bridges is on March 15, 2018.
