Refuelling delays All Whites
Lima: After an unscheduled refuelling stop, the All Whites have arrived in Peru, about 30 hours after their rivals for the World Cup qualifier in Lima on Thursday.
In a hitch to their already tiring schedule, their flight was delayed for three hours because of the refuelling, following a stopover in Buenos Aires.
The All Whites arrived at Lima airport just after midnight on Monday and were quickly escorted to their team bus for their trip to their hotel.
The Peru side seemingly has had a march on the All Whites on the travel side, as they left on a private charter jet soon after the drawn first leg of the qualifier at Wellington’s Westpac Stadium on Saturday. However, All Whites coach Anthony Hudson said that the fact his side was able to get the vital first 24 hours of recovery in in the relative comfort of their Wellington hotel was an advantage.
The game at a sold-out Estadio Nacional de Lima decides which team will play in the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
