A. Samoa looks to tighten to­bacco laws

Pago Pago: There are pro­pos­als in Amer­i­can Samoa to amend and tighten lo­cal to­bacco laws.

The lo­cal ad­min­is­tra­tion is look­ing at sub­mit­ting pro­pos­als to amend the law to in­clude e-cig­a­rettes and raise the smok­ing age to 21 to the Fono for con­sid­er­a­tion. The pro­pos­als are cited in Gover­nor Lolo Mata­lasi Moliga’s 94page Com­pre­hen­sive Re­port to the US gov­ern­ment.

Cur­rently it is pro­hib­ited for any per­son be­low the age of 18 to pur­chase or dis­trib­ute to­bacco prod­ucts in Amer­i­can Samoa.
