The Lautoka football side has been promised a $50,000 bonus from major sponsor Vodafone should they create a history in winning the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Champions League title at Churchill Park next Sunday.

The first leg of the OFC Champions League final will be played 2pm at David Farrington Park, in Wellington, New Zealand on Sunday. Blues will host the second leg at the same time next Sunday, May 20, at Churchill Park.

Lautoka Football Association president Abdul Kadar tagged the bonus as a performance booster.

“It’s a morale boost for the boys.

“Vodafone has been always helping the sport. Without them, we wouldn’t have been here as the sponsorship is playing a vital role in any sports.

“I would like to thank the executives and staff of Vodafone and we will give our best shot,” Kadar said.

Vodafone chief marketing officer Rajnesh Prasad applauds the effort of Lautoka team in their progress this far.

“We have supported the team throughout their progression leading into the final play-offs for the OFC Champions League.

“We have already contributed $70,000 towards the preparation.” Fiji Football Association president Rajesh Patel applauds Vodafone for the generous gesture.

“Vodafone know when to award the teams and have never failed to surprise us with the added boosts,” Patel said.

Blues captain Benaminio Mateinaqara echoed similar sentiments to thank their major sponsors.

“I would like to thank Vodafone for sponsoring the team all throughout,” Mateinaqara said.
