BUDGET 2018: HIGHLIGHTS

This is an excellent budget for Fiji and is, what anyone would call, “the peoples’ budget”. Imported fruits and vegetables have always been for most of our people to admire but not to buy as these have been beyond our means. Our roads in a number of places have been an embarrassment to us when tourists are around. The new home owners grant is a wonderful incentive for prospective buyers but I hope this will be gradually increased. The plastic bag levy should, hopefully, encourage people to go shopping with their own bags. These plastic bags have been nothing but a nuisance to both the land and to the sea. An excellent budget from a caring government.
