FNU Open Day provides students an opportunity to submit enrolment forms
The Fiji National University’s (FNU) Open Day provided an opportunity for secondary school students submit their application forms for next year’s intake.
Students from Balata High School, outside Tavua Town visited the Open Day organised at Natabua Campus in Lautoka yesterday with completed provisional enrolment forms.
Careers teacher Rima Goundar said the students wanted to get a head start by submitting their forms early and avoid the enrolment rush at the end of the year.
A team from the university visited Balata High School last month as part of the outreach programme and it was during this trip that relevant information regarding the wide range of programmes the university offers and minimum entry requirements were shared with the students.
“The students were very well informed of the requirements to get into the programmes they intend to study at Fiji National University,” Mrs Goundar said.
“So they used this Open Day as an opportunity to submit the completed forms at the academic office. “Some students needed few clarifications and they managed to speak with the relevant staff and they too were able to submit their forms.
“So all in all this was a very good trip for our school.”
The careers teacher was impressed with the information which was imparted to the students by all the five colleges that were present at the campus. She said the displays were well-crafted by the FNU students.
This provided her students with important information regarding what is being taught at the university, the level of teaching they can expect, how they need to submit their assignments and projects on time. All this information is important so they can be prepared for it should they join next year.
“The information and materials provided by various colleges are precise and easily communicated and understood by secondary school students,” she said.
“The students were all very excited about the Open Day and I’m sure they all have gained a lot. “This trip to Lautoka has certainly inspired them and I’m sure they will all work hard to ensure they are able to join FNU next year.”
All of FNU’s five colleges, College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (CMNHS), College of Engineering, Science and Technology (CEST), College of Business, Hospitality and Tourism Studies (CBHTS), College of Humanities and Education (CHE), College of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (CAFF) hosted displays, talks and interactive demonstrations.
