Family thankful they are alive
Afamily lost everything after their home burned down yesterday at Kalabu in Nasinu.
Family members escaped with only the clothes on their backs. They were living with extended family members but in separate flats in the family home.
Meredani Lesu, 33, said: “My fiveyear-old son had told me that he was going to play.
“After few minutes later, I couldn’t hear him so I went looking for him. At that time too I could smell something burning.
“My son later told me that he dropped a lit match stick to the floor and that was how it all started. “We are thankful that we are all alive,” she said.
There are more than 15 people living in the family home.
The National Fire Authority confirmed that three fire trucks from Nausori, Nasinu and Suva were at the scene. It is conducting investigations.
