59 ar­rested for al­leged breaches

An­other 59 peo­ple were ar­rested over Fri­day night for al­leged COVID-19 breaches.

Forty-two of the 59 re­ported ar­rests were due to al­leged breaches of cur­few, 10 were al­leged sports-re­lated in­ci­dents and seven were for al­legedly fail­ing to ad­here to so­cial dis­tanc­ing re­stric­tions.

The South­ern Divi­sion recorded 31 ar­rests, 21 for breach of cur­few and 10 for sports. The Western Divi­sion recorded 14 breach of cur­few cases. The North­ern Divi­sion recorded three cases of cur­few breach while the Eastern Divi­sion recorded two cases.

The Cen­tral Divi­sion recorded nine reports in to­tal, two for cur­few breach and seven for fail­ing to ad­here to so­cial dis­tanc­ing re­stric­tions. Seven peo­ple were ar­rested as they were found un­der the St­intson Pa­rade Bridge al­legedly breach­ing so­cial dis­tanc­ing mea­sures.

The onus is on ev­ery in­di­vid­ual to take re­spon­si­bil­ity for their ac­tions and be mind­ful of main­tain­ing phys­i­cal dis­tanc­ing, and fail­ure to com­ply will re­sult in Po­lice tak­ing nec­es­sary ac­tion.
