NEW POLICE SPECIAL RESPONSE UNIT IN NABUA
In its effort to raise awareness in the community, the Fiji Police Force has set up a Police Special Response Unit in Nabua, that is expected to enhance the work they continue to do around the country.
Police spokesperson, Ana Naisoro said: “The concept is being pushed forward and trialled in heavily densely populated areas to assist divisional operations.
“Since acquiring the container, which has been transformed into a mobile operations unit, it has come equipped with cameras whereby the Central Command can also have a live feed of what is happening on the ground,” Ms Naisoro said.
Resident, Jemesa Vadai, 45, has welcomed this initiative to set up a command centre in this area.
“This setup will greatly benefit residents who live along this area. This move by Police will counter the crime that happens around here,” he said.
“We tremendously appreciate the work being done here by Police to curb these social ills in our communities.”
Many Fijians living around Mead Road, Delainabua, Bayview Heights, Namadi Heights and surrounding areas have welcomed this move by Police.
Police have acknowledged the support of inter-island freight services that have supported its effort by offering their services of moving the container free of charge.
