Suva Market

-

Kirstin Campbell, Suva

As a concerned citizen, it’s very alarming to see how fellow citizens are becoming very complacent with the preventative measures against COVID-19.

One in particular is the two metre physical distance.

This action needs to be practiced every day of the week even on Saturdays at the Suva market.

It’s dreadful to see the crowds made up of both adults and children making their way through the market and disregarding the two metre physical distance.

Another alarming site I witnessed were several adults spitting while moving through the outside vendors.

Why is it so hard to understand and practice least preventative measures?

Why add more work for the authorities when their days and nights are already devoted to keeping us safe?

These preventative measures are actually preparing us for when our borders are reopened to the rest of the world.

These measures have and will continue to save lives and are the only things we have to keep us safe since there isn’t a cure yet.

So let’s be wise and practice physical distancing to stay safe.
