The Min­istry of For­eign Af­fairs will not com­ment on the re­port made by the Rus­sian me­dia Fi­jian au­thor­i­ties had de­nied a re­quest by a Rus­sian air­liner to land in

Fiji.

The air­craft in­tended to land at Nadi In­ter­na­tional Air­port to take home Rus­sian na­tion­als who were stranded in Fiji from April 27.

Per­ma­nent sec­re­tary for For­eign Af­fairs Yo­gesh Karan when con­tacted yes­ter­day, de­clined to com­ment on the is­sue.

He said: “All flights com­ing into the coun­try come un­der

Civil Avi­a­tion and not the Prime Min­is­ter’s of­fice.”

So­lic­i­tor Gen­eral and Per­ma­nent Sec­re­tary for Civil Avi­a­tion, Shar­vada Sharma, when con­tacted yes­ter­day re­quested ques­tions to be sent by email to Prin­ci­pal in­for­ma­tion of­fi­cer Halitesh Datt. This was done but no re­ply was re­ceived when this edi­tion went to press last night. The Rus­sian Min­istry of Com­mu­ni­ca­tions had blogged the in­ci­dent on its Tele­gram chan­nel.
