Re­mains of 4 Women From Deadly Fire to be Re­turned to Fam­ily

The re­mains of the four el­derly women killed in a fire at Be­nau, Labasa last Thurs­day will be re­turned to fam­ily mem­bers.

This was con­firmed by Po­lice spokesper­son Ana Naisoro yes­ter­day.

“This is a del­i­cate case so there­fore the re­mains of the vic­tims have to be treated with due care in as far as re­turn­ing it to their fam­i­lies, which will be done af­ter all the nec­es­sary pro­cesses are com­pleted,” Ms Naisoro said.

When asked about peo­ple mak­ing false claims and al­le­ga­tions about the case on so­cial me­dia, Ms Naisoro replied: “As for the post we are not go­ing to com­ment as the case is be­fore the courts.

“Po­lice have al­ready been vis­it­ing the com­mu­nity even Wed­nes­day morn­ing. They were there and will con­tinue to do so with reg­u­lar pa­trols,” she said.

Some house own­ers con­tacted the Fiji Sun yes­ter­day claim­ing some­one stoned their houses on Tues­day night.

They with­held their name for fear of be­ing vic­timised.

Ms Naisoro said the Po­lice of­fi­cers would con­tinue to carry out pa­trols.
