The remains of the four elderly women killed in a fire at Benau, Labasa last Thursday will be returned to family members.

This was confirmed by Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro yesterday.

“This is a delicate case so therefore the remains of the victims have to be treated with due care in as far as returning it to their families, which will be done after all the necessary processes are completed,” Ms Naisoro said.

When asked about people making false claims and allegations about the case on social media, Ms Naisoro replied: “As for the post we are not going to comment as the case is before the courts.

“Police have already been visiting the community even Wednesday morning. They were there and will continue to do so with regular patrols,” she said.

Some house owners contacted the Fiji Sun yesterday claiming someone stoned their houses on Tuesday night.

They withheld their name for fear of being victimised.

Ms Naisoro said the Police officers would continue to carry out patrols.
