DRUG ARRESTS

Police have made a number of drug arrests where alleged methamphet­amine and alleged marijuana have been seized in different locations. A 43 year old businessma­n was arrested from his house at Naikabula in Lautoka on Friday. Police seized loose dried leaves believed to be marijuana, clear plastic containing white substances believed to be methamphet­amine with cash of more than $7000. A 49-year-old man and another businessma­n in his 30s were also taken into custody.

In Westfield, Nadi, Police also arrested a 39-yearold businessma­n and a 36-year-old woman. In their possession were dried leaves believed to be marijuana, clear zip lock plastics carrying crystals believed to be methamphet­amine and cash worth more than $1600. In Votualevu, a 34 year old technician was taken into custody following the alleged discovery of a clear plastic containing substances believed to be methamphet­amine with cash of more than $100.

And seven arrests were made of people with dried leaves believed to be marijuana including a health inspector in Savusavu, where marijuana was found in his office.
