PM holds discussion following the end of his Lau, Kadavu tour
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama held a discussion yesterday following the end of his official tour of Lau and Kadavu last week.
He met the Minister for Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport Faiyaz Koya, Minister for Defence, National Security and Policing, Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, Inia Seruiratu, Minister for Infrastructure, Meteorological Services, Lands and Mineral Resources Jone Usamate, Permanent Secretary for Commerce Trade, Tourism and Transport Shaheen Ali and Permanent Secretary for Forestry Pene Nonu Baleinabuli. Mr Bainimarama called for improvements to inter-island passenger and cargo transportation with enhanced coordination. Mr Bainimarama was in Lau and Kadavu last week to get a firsthand account of the Moala jetty ruins left behind by Tropical Cyclone Harold.
Fiji Roads Authority officials updated the Prime Minister on both the damaged jetty and other infrastructure developments on the island as they work hard to repair the jetty.
