Par­lia­ment sec­re­tary-gen­eral con­firmed to have filed com­plaint with FICAC It’s un­der­stood this is in re­la­tion to al­le­ga­tions that cer­tain MPs have been claim­ing travel and ac­com­mo­da­tion al­lowance with­out be­ing el­i­gi­ble.

Sec­re­tary-Gen­eral to Par­lia­ment Vini­ana Namosi­malua has filed a com­plaint with the Fiji In­de­pen­dent Com­mis­sion against Cor­rup­tion (FICAC) on pos­si­ble breaches of the Par­lia­men­tary Renu­mer­a­tion Act and guide­lines.

When con­tacted last night, FICAC con­firmed re­ceiv­ing the com­plaint, how­ever re­fused to di­vulge fur­ther in­for­ma­tion.

It is un­der­stood that the com­plaint is in re­la­tion to al­le­ga­tions that cer­tain Mem­bers of Par­lia­ment have been claim­ing travel and ac­com­mo­da­tion al­lowance with­out be­ing el­i­gi­ble.

It is fur­ther un­der­stood that the al­lowances were re­lated to Par­lia­men­tary ses­sions as well as com­mit­tee sit­tings.

Fiji Sun hopes to get fur­ther de­tails of the com­plaint from Ms Namosi­malua to­day.
