The Crime Prevention Committee of Veidogo Settlement in Viria East, Vatuwaqa, has sought intervention from Police concerning vulgar graffiti spray painted on properties surrounding the informal settlement. Yesterday, committee president Temalesi Radinikaba said her committee was concerned with the increase in the number of this illegal activity emerging, in just a matter of weeks.

Ms Radinikaba said let Police investigate the matter and hopefully hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions.

“These things don’t usually happen here. It’s totally a new thing that we have just recently seen evolve in the private and public properties in the area,” Ms Radinikaba said.

“Apart from Police intervention we are looking into having a one on one counselling with each family in the settlement to tell them about the issue and ways we could work with families in eliminating these issues in the community. “We cannot hold a community meeting at the moment, but that is what we are going to do talk to the youths of each household on how we can stop these types of activities.”
