Nawazuddin Siddiqui made headlines on Monday for various reasons. He reached his hometown Uttar Pradesh for Eid and also to be with his mother who got anxiety attacks.

The actor along with his family is under quarantine at his Bundhana home.

Soon after that, it was announced that Nawaz’s wife Aaliya has filed for divorce and also seeking maintenance from the actor. Her lawyer sent the notice to Nawazuddin on May 7, 2020, via mail and WhatsApp.

Now confirming the report, Aaliya told Bombay Times, “There are a lot of things that I don’t want to bring in the public domain as of now, but our problems started soon after we got married over a decade ago. Two months of lockdown gave me a lot of time to introspect.

“Self-respect is extremely important in a marriage. Woh meri khatam ho chuki thi, I didn’t have that. I was made to feel like a nobody, I always felt alone. His brother Shamas was also an issue.”

She further revealed going back to her original name.

Aaliya said, “I have gone back to my original name, Anjana Kishor Pandey. I don’t want to be reminded that I am using someone’s identity for my benefit.”

She also revealed there’s no scope of reconciliation with Nawazuddin.

The former wife said, “I want to go with the flow. I haven’t thought much about the future, but I don’t want this marriage anymore. There are no chances of reconciliation.”

Aaliya also confirmed that she wants the custody of their children as she raised them.

Nawazuddin and Aaliya got married in 2009 and are parents to a daughter named Shora and son Yaani Siddiqui.

Meanwhile, on Monday, Nawazuddin took to Twitter to inform that he and his family have been quarantined in his house in Budhana in Muzaffarnagar district.

“Due to the recent loss of my younger sister, my mother, who is 71 years old, got anxiety attack twice. We have followed all the guidelines issued by the state government. We are #HomeQuarantined at our hometown Budhana. Please #StaySafe #StayHome,” he tweeted on Monday.
