National Federation Party Members of Parliament will hold the Opposition fort in the hopes that the suspended Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) MPs would return soon. Professor Biman Prasad said he was saddened with the 60-day suspension of SODELPA

by the registrar of political parties, Mohammed Saneem, yesterday.

“I do not want to make any comment on what happened but in a parliamentary democracy, Opposition is as important as the Government,” Mr Prasad said. SODELPA (in suspension) MP Viliame Gavoka said he still found what had transpired unbelievable.

“We want to get back to Parliament in order to serve the Fijian people.

“Our voters want us to go back and represent them in Parliament and this would be the focus in the next couple of days,” Mr Gavoka said.

Meanwhile, Ro Teimumu Kepa refused to comment on her party’s suspension.
