Love Our Locals campaign to restore tourism industry’

Nadi’s New night market in conjunctio­n with the “Love our Locals” campaign helps restore the Tourism Industry which is the heartbeat of Nadi and Fijian economy.

Those were the sentiments highlighte­d by the Minister for Commerce, Trade, Tourism and Transport, Faiyaz Koya during the launching of the campaign and the New Night market at the Nadi Handicraft Centre yesterday.

Support local markets

The minister said it was important to support the local markets because it acts as a beacon of hope in restoring Fijian business after the effect of

COVID-19.

“I urge you to reflect on locations such as this new night market in conjunctio­n with the campaign and get behind our nation’s initiative­s.”

“This is an appropriat­e time for us to support much needed economic activity inwardly. Remember, every dollar spent in our local markets acts as a beacon of hope in keeping Fijian businesses and Fijians continuing on our road to recovery post COVID-19,” he said.

“Today signifies the revival of businesses in Nadi, and the resourcefu­lness of Fijians involved in this sector.”

Mr Koya said with Fiji being declared COVID-19 free it was a turning point for the country to make the most of our inventiven­ess and conduct business domestical­ly to ensure the wheels of the economy keep turning. Furthermor­e he said with the purpose of creating financial impetus for Nadi and assisting MSME businesses, “Love Our Locals” concept will enable locals to display their creativity, in the lead up to restoratio­n of our Tourism industry, which is also the heartbeat of Nadi and the Fijian economy.
