The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) is aiming to give the public the best value for their money as they continue to rehabilitate and not repair roads. This was the revelation made by FRA chief executive officer, Jonathan Moore yesterday.

“With road works progressing well on Ratu Sukuna Road, we have now commenced road rehabilitation works on Princes Road in Tamavua and Fletcher Road in Vatuwaqa,” Mr Moore said.

He also said the rehabilitation process involves removing the road surface in which the subbase is mixed with cement to provide a more durable structure.

“Works on Princes, Fletcher and Ratu Sukuna Road are anticipated to be completed by the end of June, weather permitting and all the major arterial roads in Suva City will be dealt with through rehabilitation,” he said.

He said the authority was looking at rehabilitating selected sections of the Nabua bypass, Nabua commercial area, Waimanu Road and Nokonoko Road.

“Although these works do not restrict accessibility, we are requesting motorists to factor in extra travel time in their journey, adhere to the speed limits and observe all road signs,” he said.

“We thank the road users for their patience and understanding as we continue to improve the road network.”
