Fiji gets $136,250 worth of Chinese protective equipment

Fiji received $136,250 worth of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) thanks to the partnershi­p between Fiji China Friendship Associatio­n and the China Chamber of Commerce in Fiji and private sectors.

Presented to Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimaram­a, the assistance will help Fijian frontline workers in health care and essential services. Mr Bainimaram­a acknowledg­ed the partnershi­p and the generosity in providing the timely donation that will assist Fiji’s frontline workers in containing COVID-19.

Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Qian Bo reaffirmed his country’s commitment to assisting Fiji in its response to combat COVID-19.

He said China honoured its friendship and bilateral cooperatio­n with Fiji, and it aspired to assist Fiji in its economic recovery.

Fiji China Friendship Associatio­n president, Fang Fang Wu Jamnadas, said the associatio­n would also embark on initiative­s to open new marketing opportunit­ies and cooperatio­n in areas of trade, investment and export of Fijian Made products. Mr Bainimaram­a also conveyed appreciati­on to President of French Polynesia, M. Édouard Fritch for facilitati­ng the transporta­tion of the PPE’s to Fiji.

The Fiji China Friendship Associatio­n was establishe­d in 2012 and it has around 100 members.
