Fiji gets $136,250 worth of Chinese protective equipment
Fiji received $136,250 worth of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) thanks to the partnership between Fiji China Friendship Association and the China Chamber of Commerce in Fiji and private sectors.
Presented to Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, the assistance will help Fijian frontline workers in health care and essential services. Mr Bainimarama acknowledged the partnership and the generosity in providing the timely donation that will assist Fiji’s frontline workers in containing COVID-19.
Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Qian Bo reaffirmed his country’s commitment to assisting Fiji in its response to combat COVID-19.
He said China honoured its friendship and bilateral cooperation with Fiji, and it aspired to assist Fiji in its economic recovery.
Fiji China Friendship Association president, Fang Fang Wu Jamnadas, said the association would also embark on initiatives to open new marketing opportunities and cooperation in areas of trade, investment and export of Fijian Made products. Mr Bainimarama also conveyed appreciation to President of French Polynesia, M. Édouard Fritch for facilitating the transportation of the PPE’s to Fiji.
The Fiji China Friendship Association was established in 2012 and it has around 100 members.
