Mr Mitchell was previously the Director Leisure Sales and Marketing at the resort but now has taken on a bigger role of looking after the strategic positioning of the resort to the global markets.
He was the first Fijian citizen to hold a director role since the resort opened in 2009.
With the promotion of this experienced hotelier in January, it would be an eye opener and boost to encourage the development of local talent to senior roles in not only tourism sector but other sectors as well.
