Apolice report was lodged on Monday by two people who claimed they were targeted and injured in an alleged incident during the two coups of Sitiveni Rabuka 33 years ago. The complainants claimed that Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum was the perpetrator.

The two – Ratu Filimone Ralogaivau and his daughter Adi Vakacegu Malani – also known as Veronika Malani, lodged the police complaint.

Is it a coincidence that Ms Malani was recently charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC)? For 33 years the family did not feel aggrieved till two weeks after Ms Malani was charged? Ms Malani is charged with another person for two counts each of obtaining financial advantage and general dishonesty – causing a loss.

It is alleged that while employed as the manager road safety and education at LTA, Ms Malani approved accountable advance claims made under the names of two other employees of Land Transport Authority (LTA) and as a result, obtained financial advantages of $1925 for herself and $250 for the second accused in October 2017.

Her actions are further alleged to have caused a total loss of $2240 to LTA.

What are the odds?

Ms Malani and her father had not pursued this alleged incident for 33 years, but two weeks after she was charged by FICAC, she decided that she wants justice? Is this some sort of joke?

Is this how some people think the Judiciary operates? Whoever is advising Ms Malani is doing her and her family a great disservice.

Did the two also give details about how they were aggrieved after the FICAC charge, hence the police complaint for an out-of-time incident?

Ms Malani is charged with another person for two counts each of obtaining financial advantage and general dishonesty – causing a loss.
