PM assures supply of clean drinking water
A representative from the Water Authority of Fiji confirmed that work supplies from Suva such as pipes would be delivered to the village on Thursday
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has assured the people of Moturiki Island the supply of clean drinking water to their village soon.
District representative from Moturiki, Sakiasi Karanivanua, raised the issue during a talanoa session with Mr Bainimarama at Navuloa Village, Ovalau yesterday. A representative from the Water Authority of Fiji confirmed that work supplies from Suva such as pipes would be delivered to the village on Thursday.
Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Mereseini Vuniwaqa also urged recipients of the Social Pension, Care and Protection and Poverty Benefit schemes to update their information so they could still be eligible for the assistance. Ms Vuniwaqa said this was vital because some family members were taking advantage of the assistance after the recipient had died. Ms Vuniwaqa, Minister for Rural, Maritime Development and Disaster Management Inia Seruiratu, Minister for Lands Jone Usamate, Minister for Health and Medical Services, Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete, Assistant Minister for iTaukei Affairs Adi Selaimaitoga, Assistant Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Jale Sigarara are also touring Ovalau with Mr Bainimarama.
