$307K Boost to Up­grade MGM High’s IT Fa­cil­ity

The Gu­jarat Ed­u­ca­tion So­ci­ety was do­nated a grant of $307,730 to up­grade the In­for­ma­tion Tech­nol­ogy fa­cil­i­ties at Ma­hatma Gandhi Me­mo­rial High School (MGM) School in Vatuwaqa.

The launch of the IT in­fra­struc­ture up­grade project and the do­na­tion was car­ried out by the In­dian High Com­mis­sion of Fiji on Wed­nes­day night.

Pres­i­dent of the Gu­jarat Ed­u­ca­tion So­ci­ety, Kam­lesh Kumar, said the IT project was still in progress.

“The new com­puter labs now have 40 new com­put­ers,” he said.

He said this whole project was be­ing car­ried out by Datec Fiji Lim­ited. Other up­grades in­clude:

■ E-Learn­ing in all 39 class­rooms;

■ Each class­room with a com­puter and mul­ti­me­dia pro­jec­tor; and

■ 60 large CCTV Sur­veil­lance Sys­tem in class­rooms, cor­ri­dors, and en­trances.

High Com­mis­sioner of In­dia to Fiji, Pad­maja, who was the chief guest, said ed­u­ca­tion had al­ways been a pri­or­ity sub­ject for them and the grant was also ded­i­cated to the great Ma­hatma. She said the IT fa­cil­i­ties of the MGM School would ben­e­fit the chil­dren of Fiji for years to come.
