T-10 Bula Bash all set to go, says cricket chief Konrote
The rise in local cricket competition has shifted to another gear with more players and clubs joining the sports, says a senior official.
Cricket Fiji chief executive Alex Konrote said they have set a bench mark in making the weekly competition exciting.
With the introduction of the first ever Cricket T-10 Bula Bash competition, 11 teams now battling for the top spot.
Speaking to SUNsports Konrote said it was time to grow and develop the sport.
“Cricket has come a long way since it started in 1946,” he said. “There were lot of ups and down, yet we still pulled through till today. We as the federation want to see that the sport is growing and more people are participating.
“We feel that if that happens then our consultations and clinics are working.”
Konrote said it’s good to see women playing cricket.
“Seeing teams come in numbers and new players joining clubs in the competition is a plus for Cricket Fiji.
“It’s now or never for this generation of cricket lovers. It was our plans to make cricket more lively and for players and fans to come and enjoy every weekend.”
Konrote added that competition has lived up beyond expectations, as they head into today’s knockout stages.
