Dream Wedding

Our wedding day was nearly upon us. We arrived in Fiji to a hassle free pickup from the airport and were taken directly to Matanivusi Resort on the Coral Coast. Our friends had stayed there and loved it. They told us what a magical setting it would be for our wedding – isolated, unique environment, right on a white sandy beach, with an amazing turquoise lagoon in front of our rooms.

At first I wasn’t sure if we were on the right road. A long winding dirt road, hugging the shoreline and under a cascading treed path, led us to our ultimate dream. Everything my friend had said was true – we walked onto a deck with an amazing outlook. Over the edge of the infinity pool was that majestic lagoon rimmed by the reef.

We had discussed our wedding plans with the owners and nothing was too much trouble for them. All options were available – a ceremony for just my future husband and myself, an intimate group of friends or if we wanted the maximum number of 24 guests. No matter which we chose, it was going to be intimate and very unique.

Now that we were actually here, it was difficult to make a decision which venue to choose. It was between a beach wedding on the private white sand beach, a ceremony beside the infinity pool or for an amazing backdrop, we could exchange our vows under the 300 year old banyan tree, which is nestled in the rainforest.

I had my heart set on a beach wedding and so it was. The staff did everything to make our day and reception stress free. Early in the morning I chose one of the many pampering massages Matanivusi’s qualified masseuse offered in the privacy of my room. I had no worries about my hair and make-up either as a professional was also organized for that too.

We decided to enjoy our private Wedding Breakfast under that amazing tree. It is so hard to describe the magical day we had. Everything was perfect!

Both before and after our wedding our group found activities which suited all of us - surfing, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, fishing, snorkelling, guided plantation walks, scuba diving or just relaxing by the pool and spa with the ultimate tropical cocktail.

An aspect of the Resort which helped to ‘seal the deal’ is that it is a certified Eco-Resort. We were able to wholeheartedly embrace the sustainable practices operating throughout the Resort. Each room is only metres from the white sandy beach and that amazing, turquoise lagoon. Above ground walkways meander through the property, fresh rainwater tanks supply the Resort with all water needs and with an abundance of fruit trees for us to pick, our tropical dream wedding really did come true.
