Seen as one of the most ex­cit­ing sport­ing events in the world, the HSBC World Sevens Se­ries stands out as the con­test where pure speed, sports­man­ship and ath­leti­cism is highly tested, with 16 na­tions, 44 games and 3 days of in­cred­i­ble rugby ac­tion in each round. Fiji is cur­rently ranked third af­ter the fourth round in Syd­ney last month. Tune into your tele­vi­sion sets or bet­ter yet, watch it live at the sta­di­ums where the world’s best rugby teams com­pete for the se­ries ti­tle.

Suva’s Repub­lic of Cap­puc­ciono holds a monthly out­door mar­ket along­side Dol­phin Plaza. Up to 50 ven­dors sell lo­cally pro­duced food, arts and crafts. More than a mar­ket, it’s a meet­ing place. The mar­ket runs from 10am – 2pm.

March 8 The 2017 theme for In­ter­na­tional Women’s Day is Women in the Chang­ing World of Work: Planet 50:50 by 2030. The United Na­tions ob­ser­vance on March 8 re­flects on how to ac­cel­er­ate the 2030 agenda, build­ing mo­men­tum for the ef­fec­tive im­ple­men­ta­tion of the new Sus­tain­able Devel­op­ment Goals.

TRIPLE N ZONE

March 16 This is the ath­let­ics sea­son for schools. On this day, schools from Naitasiri, Nas­inu and Nau­sori will bat­tle it out at the ANZ Stadium. The top qual­i­fiers will go for­ward to the Coke Games on April 21-22.

SUVA ZONE 2

March 31 Watch Cokes Games de­fend­ing boys cham­pion Marist Broth­ers High School at their first test. The top two ath­letes will qual­ify for Fiji’s big­gest sports event, the Coke Games on April 21-22.

FIJI BIT­TER MARIST 7S

March 24-25 Run­ning for the last 41 years, this is Fiji’s long­est and big­gest lo­cal 7s tour­na­ment pro­mot­ing grass­roots rugby. Tick­ets will be out soon for this event to be held at ANZ Stadium. 64 mens, 14 wom­ens teams and 8 Oldies have en­tered to par­tic­i­pate.
