Our February Issue was a great hit because we touched on an issue that many still grapple with today. Although death is our one and only true destination in life, how we go and when often dictates how we mourn our dead. It was in remembrance of a true love lost that we decided our February cover story. February was our month of love and we hope that Tevita and Galuoko Sevico’s story has truly inspired many couples to treasure each other every day. The loss of one person has inspired many to pick up the pieces to their failed relationships as in Galuoko’s own words, “Treasure each day is if it were your last, for when they are gone all they leave behind are those special moments where you both did everything you ever wanted to do.” These are words to uphold and practice in this day and age where broken families and broken hearts and spirits are a daily occurrence in Fiji. We are beginning to develop a generation of children brought up in and around much hurt and less loving. Moving on to our March issue. March is the month of 7s rugby in Fiji and also the World. By the time this issue comes out, our Vodafone Fiji 7s rugby gladiators will be tussling with the best in the world in Las Vegas. Last year at this time, Fiji was at its lowest point in history. Tropical Cyclone Winston, the strongest Cyclone ever to hit Fiji reached its peak on February 20, 2017 with sustained wind speeds up to 230km per hour shortly before making landfall in between Ra and Tailevu. TC Winston left in its wake 44 dead, more than 40,000 damaged homes and impacted directly on the lives of around 350,000 people, with total damages estimated at around FJ$2.98 billion. The Government would declare a state of emergency for 60 days and a year later people are still trying to rebuild their lives. A week after the TC Winston hit, our national 7s Gladiators managed to bring the smiles back to Fijians all over the world by claiming the Las Vegas 7s title for Fijians back home. This month we honour those who lost their lives a year ago. We also celebrate new beginnings. We congratulate Fiji 7s skipper Osea Kolinisau and Tavu Fa on their new journey. We also raise a toast to Jasa and Vani Veremalua who tied the knot after a five year courtship.
We hope you enjoy our March issue – its all about Rugby and Romance.
