Shei­la Hicks Picks Up the Th­reads

Her work fea­tu­red in ear­ly 2014 in the De­co­rum show at the Mu­sée d’Art Mo­derne de la Ville de Pa­ris, and last fall at the Frank El­baz gal­le­ry. One of her mo­nu­men­tal works, is cur­rent­ly on dis­play at the Pa­lais de To­kyo (since April 25, 2014). This piece serves as a fo­cus for mee­ting and dis­cus­sion. Shei­la Hicks has been wor­king with tex­tiles and th­reads since the mid-1960s, but she is being “re­dis­co­ve­red” by the world of con­tem­po­ra­ry art. In this in­ter­view she looks back over her ca­reer on the bor­der bet­ween vi­sual and de­co­ra­tive art.
